An experience worth the time

Seven men of a wedding party have just left the Mariemont Barber Shop with a full shave, cut and steam towel treatment in preparation for their friend's (the groom) big day.

That is not an unusual seen at the barber shop. In fact, it is becoming commonplace.

More and more parties of gentlemen and coming to the barber shop for old-fashioned treatment.

"For $25, you can come in and get the gentleman's treatment the old-fashioned way with a straight-edge razor and steam towel and we make it a real experience," owner Ron Salzano said, adding it takes approximately 45 minutes to an hour.

The village locale is a full-service barbershop, not only offering hair cuts but also shaves, facials, good conversation, sports TV for the fan and cartoons for the child.

And on Saturdays, there is free coffee and donuts. Ron has even had mothers call the shop to put in a donut order before they bring in their sons for haircuts. Salzano said the shop is always looking for younger clientele to come in and experience the treatment.

Alongside Salzano is Brian Peters, who has worked at the shop for 10 years.
